Not everything is about etiquette when it comes to stylishly wearing a watch. Trendy men’s watches represent the lifestyle and personality of their wearer.
The design style for men’s watches
Classic
Classic is what survives the times because it is not subject to any fashion. If you want to design a watch classic, you shouldn’t draw too many lines and don’t give in to any fashion trend.
Sporty
Sporty watch design has many forms, but it is always about a striking, powerful appearance. The most important ingredients for a typical sports watch are striking shapes and high-contrast displays. Pops of color are welcome, and a metal bracelet completes the sporty look. In most cases, there is also a stately size.
Sporty watches go best with casual fashion. As with any other piece of clothing or fashion accessory, the choice of a watch depends on the occasion. More sporty watches, such as chronographs, field, or diving watches, should primarily be worn in casual wear or in business casual outfits.
Retro
Many manufacturers have been reissuing specific models from their own history for a long time. In doing so, they draw on design elements typical of the time and combine them with current features such as larger housings or modern materials. A popular era for today’s re-editions is the 1950s or 1960s. With flat, round cases and subtly colored, never-overloaded dials, these watch vintages were always reserved.
In the 1970s, many models were multicolored and had oval cases. Heavily curved cover glasses were found just as often as a particularly straight pointer shape. But even much older watches are now used again as a design template for new models. Around 1930, there was an extreme variety of shapes, which is currently reflected primarily in rectangular and tonneau-shaped cases, but sometimes also in square, polygonal or cushion-shaped watch cases.
Functional
With some watches, the utility has absolute priority. The design follows the requirements of legibility and ease of use, or rather, it is subordinate to them. With functional watches, the wearer can use them to set important time intervals and thus read off life-saving time specifications.
